Baby Troy turned 9 months old, marking the special “9 months in, 9 months out” milestone. As a first time mom and wanting to document Troy’s adorably toothy and happy smile, Dominique decided to commemorate this joyous occasion with a photoshoot. Despite being a mostly beach photographer and Hemet photographer, I enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to revisit one of my favorite locations – the enchanting Oak Glen.

Oak Glen stands out for its diverse scenery, offering a picturesque backdrop with beautiful trees, grassy plains, and serene ponds. The versatility of this location allows for a rich and varied visual narrative.

Our journey began near the pond. Troy was transfixed by birds and enjoyed watching the ducks swim around as I snapped some photos. From there, we ventured to what I consider my number one spot in Oak Glen – the grove of trees and vast open space. As the golden hour bathed the surroundings in a warm glow, we seized the opportunity to capture the sheer delight on Troy’s face and the joy radiating from Dominique as she embraced her role as his mother. 

We chatted throughout her session and though it hasn’t been an easy 9 months, the pride she feels in being Troy’s mom is unmatched. Watching him grow and develop his own personality brings joy to her soul. 

Professional photoshoots are often reserved for significant life events like weddings or infrequent family gatherings. However, this 9 month mommy and me photoshoot opened my eyes: time is moving fast and we have permission to document everything. I want to challenge the notion that it has to be something huge in order to hire a photographer.
