Andrea and Adrian’s wedding day was nothing short of unforgettable. While Redlands, California had initially enjoyed a mild spring and a cool start to the summer, the weather took an unexpected turn as temperatures soared to 103+ degrees in the week leading up to their special day at the Redlands California LDS Temple.
The challenges didn’t stop there; fires began to break out across Southern California, leading to road closures that affected many of the wedding guests’ travel plans. As a result, the wedding schedule had to be adjusted, pushing the ceremony back by an hour and a half.
What was initially planned as a mid-morning wedding and photoshoot transformed into a high noon session, notorious for harsh lighting and scorching heat. However, the amazing Andrea, Adrian, and their families powered through. Despite the sweltering conditions, you could feel the love in the air and their smiles and energy were as bright as the sun!
Due to the unpredictability of weather and unforeseen circumstances, I always suggest couples consider a different day for their first look or bride and groom portrait session. First, this lets your session be at a more favorable time of day, such as the coveted “golden hour,” when the lighting is at its most enchanting. On top of that, by separating these sessions from your wedding day, you can focus more on each other and create timeless moments without the hustle and bustle of the wedding itself.
If having a separate day isn’t feasible, another option is to schedule time either before or after the ceremony. This ensures that you capture those beautiful moments without compromising on the quality of your photos.
As your photographer, I engage in detailed timeline discussions with my clients, addressing these considerations to guarantee a photography experience that aligns with your vision!
Later in the day, at the Latter-day Saint Church building in Hemet, California, Andrea and Adrian’s celebration continued with a reception adorned with vibrant flowers, creating a lively atmosphere filled with dancing and joy.
